Moving an established store from Shopify to WooCommerce is one of the most requested projects we handle at Dubai Web City, and it is also the one with the highest risk when done carelessly. Shopify stores products, variants, customers, and order history in a fixed, proprietary database structure, while WordPress uses an open relational schema. Our migration process begins with a full CSV and API export of your Shopify catalog, which we then map field-by-field to WooCommerce’s product, variation, and customer tables — including SKUs, stock levels, product images, custom meta fields, and discount rules — so nothing is lost in translation.

PayTabs is the payment gateway we deploy most often for UAE WooCommerce stores, and nearly every “payment failed” support ticket traces back to the same handful of configuration issues. The first is the regional merchant profile: PayTabs issues separate profile IDs and server keys per region, and a store connected with a global key instead of the UAE (ARE) profile will authorise test payments but decline live AED transactions. During setup we verify the profile ID, server key, and client key against the PayTabs UAE dashboard, and lock the gateway currency to AED before the first live order is processed.

The second common failure is callback handling. WooCommerce marks orders as “pending” forever when the PayTabs IPN/return URL is blocked by a security plugin, or when a caching layer serves a stale checkout page. We whitelist the PayTabs callback endpoints at the firewall level, exclude /checkout/ and /cart/ from all page caching, and confirm the order-status webhook fires correctly on both successful and declined payments before handover.

Standard WooCommerce checkout fields assume a Western address format, which does not match how addresses actually work across most of the UAE and wider GCC — there is often no formal postal/zip code for residential deliveries, and drivers rely on Emirate, area, and building/villa details instead.

We replace the default postal code requirement with a dropdown for the seven Emirates (or the relevant GCC country field), plus dedicated Area and Building/Villa & Street fields, so checkout matches how customers actually describe their location rather than forcing an irrelevant field. For fulfillment, we connect directly to Aramex, DHL, or Fetchr APIs so that when an order status changes to “Processing,” a webhook automatically pushes the shipment to the courier’s system, generates the shipping label, and books a pickup — removing manual courier data entry from your daily workflow.
